FEELING THE LOVE

Our HER Story

A Timeline of Epic Events

Joyce Galley Was Born to Create

Joyce came to NYC in the fun-filled ’60s,
hand-painting nude ladies on neckties to be sold in Times Square to make ends meet. She then took an exciting opportunity as a newbie sketch artist and designer for fashion icon Oleg Cassini.

Joyce later decided to embark on a full-time career as a portrait artist and was commissioned by numerous world leaders in the Middle East as-well-as Europe. Many of her works now hang in National museums and private collections.

Contacts made in the Middle East led Joyce to join forces with producers at CBS for some insightful and exciting documentary films. It was the late ’80s when she returned with her daughter Brett to the states looking for a new creative endeavor.

1993

Hollywood POP Gallery

Joyce and Brett – who was in art school – decided to join forces and open a Pop Art gallery in Greenwich, CT. Since Joyce’s father was a movie producer and theater owner, they thought the word “Hollywood” should be in the name. As Joyce was specializing in Pop Art at the time and initially opened as an art gallery, “Hollywood POP Gallery” was born. HPG soon became a trendy place to enjoy all things “POP” – including Pop Art, Pop-tarts, Popcorn and Soda Pop!

The duo began renting the space for events, and Over-the-POP children’s parties became its trademark. “Whatever you can imagine, we can create” became a slogan of the mother/daughter team as they flexed their creative muscles, expanding HPG into an entertainment agency, event design, and party planning company.

Creative director Christine Gavin, Financier Alexandria Stroud, and Chroeographer Tamara Schrader joined Team POP, and the rest is “HERstory.”

1995

1997

An Over-the-POP Experience

Hollywood POP’s sophisticated, eclectic, and theatrically designed events were catching on. By ’97, HPG was in full
swing with clients such as Diana Ross, Wall Street icon Paul Tudor Jones, Bette Midler’s Hulaween, The Trump Family,
Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch, and many others.

While venue scouting at the iconic Tavern on the Green, Brett’s enthusiasm and attention-to-detail gained the
notice of Tavern’s management, and she accepted the position of in-house Entertainment Director. Warner LeRoy
became an invaluable source of inspiration and creativity.

1998

Rise to the POP

Joyce felt the call to refocus her passion for fine arts; therefore, Brett took the helm of Hollywood POP Gallery as a solo endeavor, directing her energies on full-time design and production and implementing innovative elements into extraordinary client experiences.

From Corporate celebrity bookings with the cast of The Sopranos to a private concert with Chubby Checker, five years of holiday parties with Whoopie Goldberg, thirteen years of Over-the-POP Halloween extravaganzas for Paul Tudor Jones, corporate events for The New York Yankees, The New York Mets, and The New York Rangers, plus an epic anniversary event for Priceline.com featuring William Shatner capped off the 90’s.

Business was booming, and Team POP began incorporating Destination Celebrations into their corporate and social events packages.

Once You POP, You Don't Stop

In the solemn aftermath of 9/11, we were a nation in mourning. HPG had a sense of uncertainty. Was the event industry a thing of the past?

Six months later, HPG booked an Easter celebration at a private estate and continued onward from there.

From an epic fundraiser for The Robinhood Foundation featuring George Benson, to a legendary birthday celebration for Diana Ross in Malibu, during the next few years, Team POP was on fire! HPG Began a five-year run of fantastical after-parties for Cirque Du Soleil highlighted by corporate and private events with Jon Bon Jovi. Hollywood POP designed a groovy 70s themed party with the one-and-only Donna Summers, an intimate gathering in Los Angeles at Mr. Chows, and a 50th birthday celebration featuring Lucinda Williams, among others.

Photographer Jenny Kawa joined Team POP and incorporated her personalized POP Flicks and portrait shoots into the mix.

2007

Hollywood POP Knows Talent

With American Idol at its peak, POP began booking multi-talented “unknown,” Jennifer Hudson, just voted off the show. During a POP rehearsal, she spoke of her audition for an upcoming movie. Jennifer then went on to win the Oscar for that role in “Dream Girls,” becoming a highly praised vocalist, and later joined forces with The Voice!

HPG began a cherished long term relationship of producing festival “experiences” for Excellence Charter School students. Later that year, the team produced two events with Earth Wind and Fire, and a performance by Olivia Newton-John turned a milestone birthday into an epic affair.

Gratitude overflowed for our ever-growing clientele and their continued trust in our services.

2008

2009

Yes, We CaN

The year kicked off in Mexico with a sensational 50th birthday and a private beach concert by the one and only Seal!

A forty-fifth Birthday was thrilling when accompanied by an exceptional performance from Dennis DeYoung from Stix. Hollywood POP designed the Robinhood Foundation’s “Young Executive” event and planned an emotional celebration for the “I Have a Dream” foundation.

HPG is forever grateful for the opportunity to produce a historical fundraiser for presidential candidate, Barack Obama!

2010

2012

I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT

The decade started with a sensational Sweet-Sixteen extravaganza at The Capitol Theater, highlighted by a full-length concert from POP star Katy Perry!

Another excellent venue, The New York Public Library, set the social scene for a glamourous NYC Debutante Ball. Another highlight was a theatrical corporate gala for Party City, hosted by Mario Lopez with performances by the winners of “So You Think You Can Dance” in San Francisco, which brought the house down!

HPG booked the iconic Tony Bennett, who performed a showstopping set for a Supper Club themed milestone celebration in Memphis, Tennessee. The holiday season rocked with cheers for an exclusive party with John Mellencamp. Hollywood POP was no longer an art gallery / event venue. The events were POP’ing and the company moved from “The Avenue” in Greenwich, Connecticut to a beautiful two-story office / design studio on Field Point Road featuring an artistic cast iron “Good Witch” weathervane on top of the building.

The business which started with mother and daughter years before began a transition to the next generation as Ava Bronté , Brett’s daughter joined Team POP , as a Junior Member. She eagerly provided the advice and expertise of a second-grade perspective to the HPG Children’s division, “Hollywood Pop Kids”.

2013

2017

JE T'AIME ST BARTHS

Hollywood POP Launched Kenny Loggins and the Blue Sky Riders on their debut album and national tour at a private estate in Chicago. The team continued to POP out the milestone events with a 35th birthday at Sylvia’s in Harlem, featuring an intimate acoustic performance by American Idol winner, David Cooke, a 50th Bash with Smashmouth, a one of a kind Destination Celebration in exotic St. Barths, and an epic collaboration with Mindy Weiss on the fairytale wedding of Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson.

With a fundraiser to support the USA Olympic teams, the era of growth and innovation continued, and Team POP continued to create exciting and one-of-a-kind experiences for its beloved clientele.

The 100th Global Anniversary for Save the Children at the Manhattan Center with Jennifer Garner, Camilla Cabello, Little Big Town, Tommy Hilfiger, Hoda Kotb and Zendaya was an honor to design. It was the perfect ending to an exciting decade of growth.

2020

We're Not In Kansas Anymore

How do you describe a year when the most negative word in 2020 was “positive.” Pandemic, Quarantine, Social Distancing, Mask-up, Protest, Zoom, Election… These are just a few of the words that come to mind.

But there was also Pivot, Rebirth, Renewal, Appreciation, Vaccine, Survival, and of course, #THRIVAL!

We feel so grateful and thankful during these unprecedented circumstances for our family, friends, and clients who truly supported our “pivot” to POP(up) Parties based on CDC Guidelines, and POP Virtual Experiences.

We missed designing and producing grand scale life celebrations, but so enjoyed the ingenuity and creativity surge throughout our #SurviveAndThrive journey. We are eternally grateful that we were able to help each other navigate this uncharted territory and continue to celebrate special moments in spite of so many obstacles.

To that we say “GOOD-BYE 2020!”

(Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!)

A Little Party Never Killed Nobody

HPGs business expansion continued within the Global Luxury Wedding and Event community but we noticed a transformation following the pandemic disruptions. Several key trends and developments defined these years.

Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Practices became a top priority!
HPG adopted greener practices and opted to align with eco-friendly goals.

Wellness and Mental Health Focus
As the pandemic subsided, awareness of mental health and wellness became a major component of our event planning. The emphasis was on creating a balanced event experience that nurtured both the body and the mind, especially for corporate events, conferences, and incentive trips. While large-scale events began to make a comeback, we found that smaller, more intimate gatherings offered greater impact and value. Clients were looking for more meaningful connections and experiences, pushing the industry to prioritize quality over quantity.

Global Expansion and Regional Events
The return of international travel and relaxed restrictions allowed the global event industry to Boom beyond local markets once again!

The Rise of Experiential and Immersive Events
HPG leaned into creating unique, memorable & Immersive experiences.
These HPG bespoke experiences weren’t just about attending an event but about being part of an adventure,
creating lasting memories for participants.
Overall, 2023 and 2024 marked a pivotal period of innovation, adaptability, and renewal for our HPG global event industry.
